Mr. Al-Joundi was appointed President of Agnico Eagle on April 6, 2015. Having also served previously as the Company’s Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Al-Joundi has over 20 years of experience in finance and business strategy and has extensive experience in mining, capital markets, and banking.
Prior to his return to become Agnico Eagle’s President, Mr. Al-Joundi served as the Chief Financial Officer of Barrick Gold Corporation, as Barrick’s Senior Executive Vice President and as its Executive Vice President. Mr. Al-Joundi has held various senior financial roles including Senior Vice President of Capital Allocation and Business Strategy, Senior Vice President of Finance, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Barrick South America and Vice President, Structured Finance at Citibank, Canada.

Brendan Marshall is the Mining Association of Canada’s Vice-President of Economic and Northern Affairs and works to advance the mining industry’s understanding of key economic issues, such as taxation, international trade and investment, transportation and infrastructure, energy and climate change, and innovation. Brendan is also responsible for mining policy and regulation in Canada’s North. Brendan is the lead writer and researcher for MAC’s annual Facts & Figures publication. Prior to joining MAC, Brendan held several federal government positions, including Research Assistant to the Speaker of the Senate of Canada, Lead Advance to the Prime Minister of Canada, and Executive Assistant to the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages. Mpumi was appointed Managing Director, De Beers Group Managed Operations, in April 2019.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Mpumi was a De Beers Group bursar and officially joined the company in 2001 as a process engineer. As part her production journey, she worked on process improvement and plant design projects, she also worked in various leadership levels within production management. She was appointed General Manager at De Beers Kimberley Mines in 2007, becoming the first female General Manager in De Beers Group. In 2010, she was appointed General Manager of the Group’s Voorspoed mine and three and a half years later became Senior Vice-President of De Beers Sightholder Sales South Africa, the company that sorts, values and sells all De Beers Group production in South Africa.
She was made Deputy CEO of De Beers Consolidated Mines in November 2017, rising to her current position as the first head of the Group’s Managed Operations business 17 months later. Managed Operations includes De Beers Group's operations in South Africa and Canada.
Mpumi holds a BSc in chemical engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and completed leadership development at the London Business School.
